With Father’s Day in Australia only being observed in September, you may think, why talk about it now? We just finished up celebrating our mother’s last month, showering and spoiling them with the gems and gifts they deserve. Father’s on their allocated day however tend to always get the short end of the stick; they are forgotten and left behind, not being hyped up as much as mother’s.

This needs to change immediately! Father’s work so hard every day, and deserve to be treated like royalty at least once in the year, to say the least. This Father’s Day, plan ahead and book a table at one of the many fine restaurants Melbourne has to offer. Here are our favorites below:

 

Vue De Monde

Shannon Bennet’s Vue De Monde is probably the hardest restaurant to get a reservation at in Melbourne, so you’re lucky we are informing you in advance! Your father will surely be surprised (in the best way) if you manage to get a table at this fine dining joint. It requires more than just calling and trying your luck as they only offer two sittings, one early shift for one hour and forty-five minutes and a four course a la carte menu, and the later shift, which allows you to dive into their exquisite ten course array. It’s an experience that is definitely worth fighting for.

 

Igni

Also another fine dining spot, Igni puts a twist on what you would normally expect from a five to eight course meal by creating a culinary mystery for anyone who walks in. Although they will ask for your preferences and food intolerances, they will craft a personalized meal for your group. How does that sound for making your Father feel special?

 

Minamishima

For the best sushi and omakase experience in all of Melbourne, book a table at Minamishima, the hidden Japanese gem in Richmond. For 150 AUD, you will receive a fifteen-course selection of choices they have specifically selected that day from the fresh market. Similar to Igni, they will be choosing the courses especially for you, with options such as toro, raw prime beef, and flounder fin, to name a few.

More of a casual joint fan? Embla puts a twist on your everyday restaurant by also offering upscale food options, combined with a wine tasting from their premium wine bar. Their food options include a hearty half chicken with garlic as well as a caramel crusted rainbow trout, to name a few. With a reputation for being awarded “Restaurant of the Year” and “Best Casual Dining” at the 2016 Time Out Melbourne Food Awards, it offers an experience that you and your father will not want to miss.

Is your father more of a meat-lover? Rockpool Bar & Grill is known for its variety of beef options; dry-aged, grass-fed, and wood-grilled, to create an ultimate burst of flavor.
