Jay Martin – The Veggo Adventurer

It’s no secret that Sydney isn’t the cheapest city to live in or even visit, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have something to offer everyone!

For those who are shopping on a meagre budget or for those who just like to hunt down a sweet deal, Sydney has plenty of markets, factory outlets, and discount shopping arcades in which to go bargain hunting.

So get out and explore this beautiful city with this list of some of the best bargain shopping on offer. I hope you packed lightly because you’ll be struggling to keep to the suitcase weight limit on your flight home!

Market City – Hay Street, Haymarket

Right next to Sydney’s Chinatown and above Paddy Market (which is also worth a look around on weekends) sits Market City, a mecca if you’re shopping for, well, pretty much anything!

Filled with factory outlet stores to fulfill your consumer cravings for clothing, shoes and other fashion accessories; you’ll also find great restaurants, grocery stores, video arcades, nail salons, and even wig stores in this large and usually quite crowded building.

The Wynyard Centre – George Street, Sydney CBD

Right next to Wynyard Station in the middle of the CBD, you’ll find this hidden shopping gem. The Wynyard Centre is made up of 2 retail concourses that connect George Street and Wynyard Station.

Along these walkways you’ll find over 70 stores comprising of fashion, footwear and accessories retailers to jewellery, gift, and health and beauty stores. There is always a bargain to be found here, and it’s conveniently positioned near other tourist draw cards such as Darling Harbour and Circular Quay.

Birkenhead Point Outlet Centre – Roseby Street, Drummoyne

If you’re willing to venture a little further out of the city, take a bus, taxi, or ferry to Birkenhead Point Outlet Centre. Here you’ll find outlets for all your favourite designer fashion labels alongside homewares, sports, shoe stores and more. There are also lots of really nice eateries and cafes here alongside the beautiful waters of the Parramatta River.

There’s always tons of bargain to be found at Birkenhead and with so many stores all in the one area you can easily spend half a day or more wandering around. Try and visit through the week if you can, as weekends here can get extremely busy!
