An Hour a Neighborhood: Making the most of Hong Kong’s Southern District

Jessica Tryde profile pic

Jessica Tryde- Local Fitness Nut

Dear Angela, I would like to discuss a potential business opportunity tomorrow at 6:30 a.m. on the South Side – you call the place.”

No you didn’t read incorrectly. Some big shot potential business partner, clearly an early bird, prefers to have meetings in the morning and has so very kindly arranged one at 6:30 a.m. Not in Central or Causeway Bay but on the South Side!

You can barely make your way there let alone arrange a place that will accommodate a 6:30 rise ‘n shine meeting…so what do you do. (And no. Waking up at 4:30 am is not going to be an option)

Pack your bags – you’re going on a stay-biz-cation at Ovolo Southside!

Late night booze to ease your nerves

You know you shouldn’t but your nerves won’t stop jumping. Give in a little, indulge a little. Sip on delicious cocktails that will pave your way to a great night’s sleep before your important meeting tomorrow. Above at Ovolo Southside offers a breeze terrace with a fantastic panoramic view of the old Hong Kong. The cherry on top are the fruit cocktails where one is never enough.

Caffeine at the break of dawn

Yawn. It’s 5:30 a.m. and you have one hour to get ready and be somewhere that’ll have your coffee perfectly brewed, ready to be downed. The Lo Lounge is opened 24-hours a day so even if you need a coffee or something to nibble on at 3:00 a.m., your wish is their command. It offers a sleek multipurpose social area, making any networking or meeting rendezvous easy and smooth.

Brekkie calls where the Elephant lives

xxxxxx

Head over to Elephant Grounds for a breakfast bite! With locations all around Hong Kong, the one in Aberdeen is by far my favorite. It’s rustic tables and chairs paired with a generous amount of space make it a great go-to café if you’re looking for some trending nibbles to go with your rendezvous. Oh and obviously the java – you really can’t go wrong with a cup of joe from here.

Take a stroll around Aberdeen Promenade

ccccc

You’ve got a little more than an hour before your next meeting – which is a lunch meeting. You made sure you had only a few nibbles for breakfast. Take a stroll around the Aberdeen Promenade and soak in this urban waterfront! Fresh air, fishing village, nostalgia – it’ll all take your mind off of the all that biz-talk.

Fuel up your day with a nutritious lunch

dddddd

Last meeting for the day, woohoo! It’s been an early start and what you need is a nutritious, delicious lunch. Head on over to 3/3rds! Mismatched furniture with freshly prepared soups and salad – it’s a charming oasis in a factory building. And the perfect ending to your day of meetings! From 1 mm-thin pizza crusts to creamy roasted egg plants that’ll melt in your mouth…see your last rendezvous as a celebration rather than a meeting. And unite over food : ) After all, nothing’s accomplished when one’s hangry.
