Paddington’s top eateries – from triple cheeseburgers to delicious dumplings

Julia Gralberg

With local Italian restaurants, stylish bistro pubs and calorie-dripping fast food joints to die for, Paddington – nearby Ovolo Woolloomooloo Hotel, isn’t just taking fashion seriously, the food here is exceptionally tasty and truly something to write home about.

It doesn’t matter what time of the day you get peckish here since this culinary diverse neighbourhood serves up brunch, lunch and dinner for every budget and belly.

Here you can gorge on pizzas, guzzle down American burgers and enjoy classic pub dishes. Which ever food you go for, one thing is sure, expect to lick your plates clean and have both your taste buds and appetite satisfied.

From cheap eats to fine dining, are you ready to gather your dollars and cents and hit the streets of Paddo to polish off some premium grub?

Cheeky Burger

If the sound of ‘unapologetic burgers and booze’ isn’t enough to make you drop everything (pronto!) and run to this tasty pit stop, perhaps the thought of sinking your teeth into a triple cheeseburger will?

Forget the garden salad, this is where you head to for proper American grub and this affordable joint has plenty of it! Pair your Philly Cheese Steak and Cheeky Porker with Skinny or French fries and wash it down with a Chocolate Shake or Soda Float.

For pudding, the sinfully delicious Krispy Kreme Doughnut Sandwich and Ben N Jerry’s Pints are too heavenly to resist.

And the best thing – the burgers start at ten bucks and hungry burger-fans can enjoy cheeseburgers, wine and beer for a fiver each, during Cheeky Hour from 6 pm between Tuesday to Friday

The Paddington

Formerly Paddington Arms Hotel, The Paddington is now a Merivale venue with all the trimmings. Described as a ‘British pub with a butcher theme’ this place feels more like a cool restaurant.

Pop in for a pint after work at the relaxed and cosy local hangout and let yourself be seduced by the tasty pub menu offering rotisserie meats, fish and vegetables.

Popular dishes among locals are ocean trout and grain feed beef rump which can be enjoyed in a casual atmosphere before tucking into The Paddington’s famous chocolate mousse with salted caramel.

With comfortable booth seats, large tables and a great selection of both beers and wine this is the perfect place to gather a group of friends for special celebrations.

Love Supreme

As the name suggests there’s a whole lotta love going into these authentic Italian thin crust gourmet pizzas, pasta and antipasti.

With meaty pizzas, rich pasta, lots of wine to chose from and buzzing vibe this is the perfect place to begin a big night. AND with a brunch menu fit for Pavarotti, Love Supreme might be one of the best hangover cures in Paddo.

The classy pizza joint, famous for using organic produce, is always jam packed so ensure you sneak in early to nab a table.

Grill at The Four (formerly Four in Hand)

Formerly owned by Irish celebrity chef Colin Fassnidge, the heritage-listed Four in Hand reopened last month as The Grill at The Four under Public House Management Group.

Executive Chef John Collins is overseeing the gastro pub menu which focuses on charcoal grilled meat and seafood.

This gastro pub is both fancy and relaxed and, not too surprisingly, popular among the local neighbours. The new menu serves up classic pub cuisine at its best including quality comfort food such as suckling pig, Angus beef and whole market fish.

The perfect weekend treat? Hang around the bar area for a few drinks before enjoying a traditional Sunday roast with all the trimmings.
