A Very Fateful V-day in HK: Celebrate Just as How You Met

Candlelight dinners…Dinner with a view…Private dining…it’s the same cheesy thing year and year after. You’re running out of ideas…so what now?

Let how fate brought you together determine the way you celebrate Valentine’s Day this year! Whether it’s meeting at a club or love at first sight – we’ve got something for all.

YOU AND YOUR LOVED ONE MET:

In a club

Un-tz Un-tz Un-tz (it’s supposed to be the bass if you didn’t get that already). The two of you met over alcohol and heavy bass…why not relive the good ole (and young) days and celebrate the day of love over music and booze? Start the day early at Zuma – we hear they do one fine hell of a boozy brunch. From there, you can either 1) keep the alcohol flowing at RED bar or head home for an afternoon nap before dancing your hearts away at Fly.

ZUMA – Landmark, 15 Queen’s Road Central

RED – IFC, 4F, 8 Finance Street, Central

FLY – Shun Ho Tower, GF, 30 Ice House Street, Central

1, 2. OKAY ONE MORE SET. Nothing says LOVE more than a sweaty gym sesh with dumbbells and barbells. Do you guys share the same gym? Try a new class together! Opt for Body Pump or TRX, or maybe just hit the weights! If not, do an outdoor circuit session at Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park. Choose from a variety of healthy eats (Nood Food or Locofama do excellent healthy meals) and refresh yourself with juice from Catch Juicery.

Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park – 16 Eastern Street North, Sai Ying Pun

Nood Food – 32 Hollywood Road, Central

Catch Juicery – GF, 67 Wellington Street, Central

Locofama – Fuk Sau Lane, Sai Wan

Was it coffee meets bagel or tinder? Balance out all those late-night texts with one day offline! Best way to do it – go camping (preferably somewhere with no signal). My pick would be Big Wave Bay in Sai Kung! Starting out with a small hike (no more than 40 minutes), you’ll reach your destination: pristine white sands and aqua blue waters. Set up your tent-for-two and start yourself a little bonfire while you chat way through the evening star-lit skies.

Simple things to make:

Mac ‘n cheese (given you have a stove), S’mores, Lamb racks (it’s doable!)

How to get there:

While boats are available from Sai Kung ferry pier, we recommend you take a taxi to Sai Wan Pavilion and hike to Ham Tin Wan!

Love at first sight.

Total darkness removes the attention from the superficial”

I’m not saying those who fell in love via first sight are superficial, but why not put yourself to a little test and communicate without the bliss of sight? Head over to Dining in the Dark for the experience of a life time. Chat away in total darkness and immerse your taste buds in every exquisite dish. You never know what you might learn about each other!

So you guys were set up by a good friend and because you’re the kind person you are, for Valentine’s Day, you want to repay them for their good work. Before heading off to (we recommend Trattoria Doppio Zero for authentic, mouth-watering Italian food), order their favourite dishes from Deliveroo or Ubereats and surprise them!

There’s love in the air…port. You guys met at the airport so there’s no better way than to celebrate by flying! Celebrate Valentine’s day with a love-cation away from Hong Kong! Whether it’s a city escape or an adventurous hike – no matter where the destination is, as long as you two are traveling together the sparks will continue to glow.

Great Weekend Getaways:

Taiwan for great eats

Japan for culture and shopping

Bali for sun and crystal clear waters
